    Power Strip Fires: Fault Identification

A power strip's rocker breaker responds only to overcurrent, and it misses most of the ways a strip starts a fire. This course shows how strips fail, and how to investigate one.

    You will learn:
    - How current moves through a strip: plug, cord, bus strips, rivets, and outlet contacts.
    - The seven failure modes: overload, glowing connections, rivet and bus joints, cord damage, tracking, surge module failure, and counterfeits.
    - How to tell tracking from soot, and fault damage from fire exposure.
    - How to work burned strips on an interactive bench.
    - How to read the strip together with its cord, its outlets, and the wall receptacle it plugs into.
