    Panelboard Fires: Fault Identification

The panel that fed the building is present at almost every structure fire. This course shows how panels fail, including the faults a breaker cannot detect.

    You will learn:

    - What a breaker's two trip elements measure, and what neither one catches.
    - The five failure families: glowing terminations, the bus and stabs, breaker failures, water and contamination, and workmanship errors such as double taps and mismatched breakers.
    - How to read the as-found breaker handle positions as a record of the fire.
    - How to examine burned panels in a 3D examination lab and on a wiring bench.
    - The examination protocol, the exemplar and era question, and the limits of your opinion.
