    Microwave Oven Fires: Fault Identification

The microwave is often the first appliance blamed in a kitchen fire. This course shows how to separate a food fire from an appliance fault.

    You will learn:

    - How a microwave is built: the door interlocks, cavity, magnetron, high-voltage section, and controls.
    - How to discharge the high-voltage capacitor before you examine the unit.
    - The six failure clusters: the waveguide cover, interlocks, controls and phantom starts, the magnetron and high-voltage chain, carbonized food soil, and the recall record.
    - How to examine burned units in a 3D examination lab, and control board faults on a schematic bench.
The examination protocol and the limits of your opinion.
