    Heating Element Fires: Fault Identification

Every heating appliance depends on an element and the controls that switch it off in time. This course shows how elements start fires, and how to investigate one.

    You will learn:

    - How an element is built, and the controls around it: the operating thermostat, the high-limit cutoff, and the thermal fuse.
    - The five failure mechanisms: internal coil short, control failure, char-path ignition, overload and fatigue, and mechanical damage or installation error.
    - The evidence each mechanism leaves, and how to tell the signatures apart.
    - How to examine a burned element assembly in a 3D examination lab.
    - How to keep the part's role separate from the overall cause of the fire.
