Garage Door Opener Fires: Fault Identification

An opener hangs at the ceiling, in the heat and smoke of almost any garage fire. It often takes heavy damage from a fire it did not start. This course shows how to tell the difference.

    You will learn:
    - The first read: damage from burning up versus damage from falling down.
    - How an opener is built, from the powerhead and drive train to the safety sensors and battery backup.
    - The failure modes: the over-lamped worklight, the motor circuit, the transformer and control board, and the connections.
    - How to examine burned openers in a 3D examination lab, and board faults on a schematic bench.
    - The examination protocol, and how to report what the opener can and cannot show.
